Yards Per Target Leaders — an Efficiency Stat That Does Not Repeat

Yards per target repeats at 0.15 between halves of the same season — among the least reliable measures we hold for a player.

0 is a coin flip and 1 is a fixed property. Each bar is one measure correlated with itself across the same season. Opportunity sits at the top and efficiency at the bottom, and that ordering is the single most useful thing on this page.

Who gains the most per ball thrown at them?

2026 so far. everyone who matched -- the usual four-game minimum was dropped because nobody in this window has played that many yet, so read a one or two game rate as the small sample it is.

What this number is worth

It combines how deep a player is targeted with what he does after the catch and with whether a defender fell over. Only the first of those is stable, and it is already visible in his average depth of target.

Read a leader here as a description of last year, not a forecast of next. If you want the part that carries, look at how often he is targeted rather than at what each target produced.

Split-half reliability 0.15 (0.26 projected to a full season) across 2,783 player-seasons, 2018–2025, every player with at least four games in each half of a season. Measured 2026-09-29 by tools/reliability_players.py; the boards above are built by the same query engine the assistant uses.
